THE FINE PRINT — Music Themes

Lisa chose the theme THE FINE PRINT for this week.
The theme for next week is DRAGONS
Children must be cared for all day and all night everyday and every night twenty-four hours a day no matter what. Absolutely no matter what. It also absolutely required that this be done with good humor,  love and kindness,  gentleness, and all of the wisdom that can be mustered.

SLEEPSONG — Secret Garden
5min. 51sec.

Children must be cared for all day and all night every day and every night twenty-four hours a day by at least one impeccably trustworthy adult. No matter what.  Absolutely no matter what.

Who knows what the future will hold? Certainly, THE FINE PRINT says: The future will be brighter for children, and everyone, if you act with the welfare of children, and future generations in mind.

I have plenty of opinions about most things, and strong opinions about childcare.  Keep in mind my opinions are just that, my opinions.

MOVING MOUNTAINS — Nemesis — Two Steps From Hell
3min. 4sec.

In sickness and in health, for better or worse

SARAJEVO — Max Richter
3min. 59sec.

“My dear love…”

Work, work, and more work and practice, and foot work and breathe. Plenty of restful sleep and a healthful diet are in THE FINE PRINT. With the Takitumu the flavor is so bold, it doesn’t seem like there would be any FINE PRINT. But there is.THE FINE PRINT of dance is discipline.
Takitumu Akirata Ou Ura Pau
5min. 22sec.

Most people are so distracted by the hips or the stories told by the hands that they don’t notice the essential FINE PRINT. Often the practice and stamina building work required to perform dance is not thought about by people observing. Have you ever tried to do a pliés? Try doing a set of pliés with your knees clapping back and forth like these men do. Strength and foot work and breathing and disciplined practice are the FINE PRINT in dance.
Novosvětská symfonie Part II Largo — Antonín Dvořák
12MIN. 49SEC.

Antonín Dvořák: Symphony №9 in E minor, Op. 95 “From The New World”
Antonín Leopold Dvořák (1841 — 1904) Composer
Herbert von Karajan (1908 — 1989) Conducts
Wiener Philharmoniker — 2/1985 Record at Vienna, The Großer Saal des Wiener Musikvereins.
The Symphony No. 9 in E Minor “From the New World”, Op. 95, B. 178, popularly known as the New World Symphony, was composed by Antonín Dvořák in 1893 during his visit to the United States from 1892 to 1895.

What are you nostalgic for? Who or what aspect of home do you remember with fondness? Do you feel nostalgia the almost or even the never was?

I wish for my past
Nostalgia for what was not
Unfinished dreaming

Summer — Music Themes

Lisa has chosen the new theme for Thursday:  “I was thinking distance. I have much to say about that. ”

Csillag-Ős — The Moon And The Nightspirit with guest vocalists Catarina Raposo of Dwelling, Saskia Dommisse of Poets to their Beloved, and Alessandra Santovito of Hexperos

Hungarian and Portuguese and Dutch and Italian

Summer, Vivaldi Recomposed — Max Richter — Daniel Hope — Orchestra L’arte del Mondo Rostock, 2013

Faun — Iduna

We have already passed the solstice and though the heat is still building, here in the Northern hemisphere, we are headed towards autumn and harvests. Fist, and in some cases, second cuttings of hay have already been done and many hot crops (water melons) have been harvested already. Second plantings have been done. Mid-summer hottest stuff growing.. beans, okra, peanuts, sweet potatoes, tobacco … and it’s a hot summer …

Berta, Berta  —  Branford Marsalis  —The Piano Lesson 1990 — August Williams  —  Charles S. Dutton – Courtney B. Vance – Carl Gordon – Lou Myers

The insect noises in the piece sound just like the noises of hot summer where I live. the lyrics are inviting a prisoner’s sweetheart to find a good man, not in prison, and to go ahead and marry and to have a good life before it is too late. While the prisoners on the chain gang sweat and work and chant/sing.

Faun — Unda

What is summer without water, without waves? And if for you, like for me, the ocean is dream of yesterday, and you can’t even get in the sun, for one reason or another, then you can become the waves, the vibrations. For that is what everything is … resonation.

Unda (Latin) = the Waves
Unda attingit        The wave reaches you
Te et abducit         And leads you
Te in profunda      To the depths.
Sicut es unda.        Likewise you are the wave

Blood of the Dragon – Nox Arcana

How can anyone get through summer without slaying a few dragons?

Das Märchen vom Zaren Saltan, Act III, Scene Tableau 1: Orchestral Interlude. Hummelflug — Rimsky Korsikov 1903 — Sergei Rachmaninov piano arrangement and recording Flight of the Bumblebee 1929

Bumble bees, of course, do their work in Summer.

Falkenstein – Sommer

Mermaids — Hans Zimmer—Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides …

Summer is also a time of fantasy and imagination and myths. Or are myths based on some lost truth? Sea-faring cultures from around the world have stories of mermaids.

Faun -Mehrnoush …

Summer seem to enhance the intense nostalgia for childhood home, though the reality may be covered in mist….

Zaubersprueche                                                  Spells or Enchanment

In einem dunklen                                               Tal In a dark valley
Lag jüngst ich träumend nieder,                     Where I was recently dreaming,
Sa sah ich einen Strahl                                       I saw a beam
Von meiner Heimat wieder.                              From my home again.

max richter – november

I found this music  via:    This page is in a blog with page after page of poignant posts.   NOVEMBER is not amongst her selections, but the begnning of a journey that led to it is.   Poesravenlady homepage:

The problem with NOVEMBER

And all of the seasons

Is they end too soon.

Just when I begin to be immersed …. it’s over.

I can actually dance with-in November.

There are no sudden jarring movements required.

Perhaps I don’t appear to be the Dance,

So much, to my troupe of trees and fog and

The few critters still awake, perhaps,

If they are  judgmental types,

I look more as if I am tottering and lurching

Rather  than swaying in elegant swirling pirouettes.

I pretend the graceful eddies in the fog

And the ripples of movement in my clothing

Are the dance I hear in my muscles and bones …

No more a viewers comedy.

Which is fine.

When I dance

I do not perform.

Alone, I Am Dance.
