NASA/NOAA EARTH OBSERVATORY
On April 29, 2014, the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite observed the heavy rain that inundated the southeastern and eastern United States and produced floods near Pensacola, Florida. The National Weather Service reported record-setting rainfall of more than 380 mm (15 inches) in Pensacola.
THERE WERE OVER 2 FEET OF RAINFALL IN ONE 24 HOUR PERIOD. MORE RAIN FELL THAN HAS EVER BEEN RECORDED IN THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE.
