Dancers with peacock feathers – the first time I see that 😀

Many of the traditional plumage birds are now protected. Peacocks make a good substitute, don’t you think?

I don’t know… Here, peacocks are very rare. Its about some 10 years I saw one, he had a special crie. Only one time he showed all his feathers. That looked reather cool, because by then he seemed to have many more eyes behind him 😀

Where are you? People raise them here (USA) on farms, like chickens or turkeys or guinnies, but not as often as they do require more protected vertical space for their comfort (and so they can grow their feathers) but also to keep away predators. The molt their feathers naturaly, including the tail feathers. They don’t have to be killed to harvest feathers. One of my sisters-in-law has a huge peacock aviary (they have a cattle ranch, plus) in the state of Louisiana. NOISY birds. The noise causes them to be restricted from some residential and urban areas. Dunno about other places in the world. They are allowed to roam some places freely, but those areas don’t seem to have the same predator problem. Places like some large gardens and the grounds of some estates.

Thanks for letting me know this. In the place where I live (allemagne) peacocks are so rare, that normally you will most probably see them only on TV 😀
