Are those who act or speak, and are unaware of, and/or indifferent to, the hurt or damage they inflict, INNOCENT IN INTENT?

When the intent is the betterment of self, is there  INNOCENCE IN INTENT, when awareness of hurt or damage to another is absent?

Are consequences, or intent, more important?

Are adults morally obligated to rectify, or make amends, for unintended hurt or damage?

Do cultural mores matter?

An apology unspoken
Is not.
Words of apology spoken
In lieu of meaning
Are not.
False apologies
Are apology not.

Words spoken with no heart
Are yet spoken not.
Apologies With No Heart = False Apologies = Deceit

I’m sorry you feel that way.
I’m sorry that you have reacted that way.
Just let it go.
Let bygones be bygones.
I’m sorry that I can’t do anything right.
It’s too bad that you can’t get over this.
You are over reacting.
I don’t remember doing that.
I don’t remember saying that.
I want you to know that I am sorry.
What ever it is, I’m sorry.
You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
You are just being a drama queen.
I wasn’t aware that I was doing anything wrong.
This is not important.
This is not worth wasting time over.
I’m sorry that I can’t ever do anything to please you.
Let’s not dwell on this.
I wasn’t aware that I said that.
I’m sorry you ever met me.
I want you to believe that I am sorry.
I want you to understand that I am sorry.
I thought I did apologize.
I’m not going to apologize again.
That is all the apology you are going to get.
It’s not any use to even try.
I want you to believe that I did apologize.
I can’t undo what has been done, so just accept it.

Have any of those been tried on you?
Have you, yourself, pretended to apologize?

Suggested by                                                      False Apology         I’m sorry I’m not as perfect as you are.      Sorry means nothing, it is easy to say …

I want you to trust me.
I want you to forgive me.
I want you to believe I deserve forgiveness.
Words are cheap.
I want you to accept this token.
Whatever you say.
