FARAWAY can be a mirage of distance  and faraway can also produce mirages.

NEAR can be a sudden realization that what seemed far has always been near.
Nearer My God to Thee —Traditional Hymn by Lowell Mason (1792-1872)  arranged by James Horner — Titanic

Just after 2.00 a.m. as the Titanic began settling more quickly into the icy North Atlantic, popular  dance tunes  that had floated  across her decks suddenly stopped as Bandmaster Wallace Hartley tapped his bow against his violin. Hartley and his musicians, all wearing their lifebelts now, were standing back at the base of the second funnel, on the roof of the First Class Lounge, where they had been playing for the better part of an hour. There were a few moments of silence, then the solemn strains of the hymn “Nearer My God to Thee” began drifting across the water.

Next week our theme will be SUMMER

Georgia On My Mind (original) — Ray Charles

Ray Charles was born in Georgia and moved to Florida as a child. At the age of 5 he began losing his sight gradually, and by age 7 was completely blind.  He studied at the St. Augustine School For the Deaf and Blind, in Florida, where he first learned to play the piano. He then moved to Seattle, where he began to be published as a musician.

All Love Can Be by James Horner sung by Charlotte Church  — A Beautiful Mind

I will watch you in the darkness
Show you love will see you through
When the bad dreams wake you crying
I’ll show you all love can do
All love can do

I will watch by the night
Hold you in my arms
Give you dreams where no one will be
I will watch through the dark
Till the morning comes

For the lights will take you
Through the night to see
All love, showing us all love can be

I will guard you with my bright wings
Stay till your heart learns to see
All love can be

The movie A Beautiful Mind is the John Forbes Nash, Jr. story, dramatized.  While the movie is outstanding and inspirational and I do recommend that you watch it, more than once, it does not accurately follow John Nash, Jr.’s life.  The biography, of the same name, more carefully follows his life, and is a well written, readable and informative book, focusing on Nash’s mathematical genius and also his schizophrenia .
John Forbes Nash, Jr. – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“John Forbes Nash, Jr. (born June 13, 1928) is an American mathematician whose works in game theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations have provided insight into the factors that govern chance and events inside complex systems in daily life. His theories are used in market economics, computing, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, accounting, politics and military theory. Serving as a Senior Research Mathematician at Princeton University during the latter part of his life, he shared the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi.”
