Perseids

An overcast night sky
Conceals shooting stars
And glory fireballs.
Lower clouds
Flow quickly,
While heat lightening
Brightens the sky,
Highlighting wet trees.
For a moment,
Wet leaves flicker,
Glistening white,
Then are gone.
Moving slowly,
My body displaces
Turgid air,
Heavy and hot,
Dense with humidity.
Searching through
The dripping canopy,
I seek flying wishes.
