A friend says to me ISIS must be negotiated with – I reply
these aren’t people to negotiate with, to do so gives them
    legitimacy.
They say it is the only way to arrive at a peace, I say peace
can also be the product of strength, better a peace of strength
    than one of defeat.
They ask what to do then and I respond it is a decision for the
French, and if as Hollande says there will be no mercy then so
    be it.
Ghandi said if you extract an eye for an eye all the world will be
blind – I say better for some to be blinded then innocents to die.

France bombs Islamic State HQ, hunts attacker who got away

France launched “massive” airstrikes on the IS group’s de-facto capital in Syria

Apache helicopter force proposed for Iraq: The squadron of helicopters would be the newest front line in the fight against the Islamic State http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-considers-sending-attack-helicopters-to-iraq-1445977965?ncid=newsltushpmg00000003
Defense Secretary Ash Carter today revealed that the U.S. will openly begin “direct action on the ground” ‘against’ ISIS forces in Iraq and Syria. In his testimony before the Senate Armed Services committee on Tuesday, Carter said “we won’t hold back from supporting capable partners in opportunistic attacks against ISIL, whether by strikes from the air or direct action on the ground.” …This may mean some American soldiers “will be in harm’s way, no question about it,” Carter said last week. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/defense-secretary-us-begin-direct-action-the-ground-iraq-syria

The handwriting was on the wall about U.S. ground troops being
involved when it was announced recently and prior to the attack
in France that a contingent of fifty would be sent to train and advise.
A scenario similar to one in Viet Nam when the French had withdrawn
and JFK sent advisers to train South Viet Namese troops.
The brazen nature of this current ISIS assault speaks to an increased
ability for ISIS to expand globally, predicated in part on financial assets.
They control oil fields and the revenue from produced by them, an obvious
goal should be to recapture those oil fields or make them inoperable.
If anyone believes ISIS won’t attempt the same thing in this country they
        are sadly mistaken.
I imagine this will ramp up anti immigration protests and may well impact
policies related to that – if so people legitimately seeking refuge will
be impacted, but a very real possibility exists that within the numbers
of immigrants there are also terrorists, so what to do?
Conflict is the past, present, and future ….. and mores the pity that it
        is the way of man.

    • They went beyond being a moral issue some time ago. ISIS needs to be relegated to history. Entirely.

They are some of that evil that is loose in the world, that was described in the story you retold. Thank you for sharing that Teaching.
