Laughter

.
.
As the crows
And I
Sit atop
My favorite
Thorn tree
Watching the
Light change
The shadows
Dance I
Think of you
And gossip
With my
Shimmering
Friends
They know
You better
Than I am able
To remember
They speak
To me
The language
Of laughter
When the
Wise ones
Fly east
Seeking roost
I remain alone
Among thorns
Comfortable
In forgetfulness

Very well written and brings back memories of a crow who adopted us.
A particulalyr mischievious crow who took great pleasure in filling a water
pan for the resident hounds with rocks until the pan contained nothing but
    rocks.
They of course loathed him and made many every effort to catch him, but he
would always seek shelter just out of harms way and loudly scold them.
Knowing the medicine ways grandmother favored him greatly and a rapport
    existed between them.
Among the nations some see them as a good luck sign, others a symbol
of wisdom, also benefactors whose presence or a talisman made of their feathers
can ward off sickness and bad spirits.
Time took it’s toll as iis it’s way but his feathers adorn doorways and strategic places
in trees, a legacy of “to serve and protect”, while his antics are often recalled
with laughter and make great stories to tell little ones.

I do wish the world would speak “the language of laughter”. We all have the capability but perhaps not the desire. Beautiful poem.
