What a wonderful Haiku, Bears. And my gratitude for finding and your appreciation to one of our beautiful dances from my country. This dance is commonly performed by at least 50 to a hundred men and women at an open placement. 🙂

Can you do this dance?
I am so glad someone thought to put this on You Tube with English tags so that I could find it.
I found it looking for West Java folk dances. I think it is beautiful.

Saman dance is a tribal Gayo dance usually displayed to celebrate important events in their cultures. saman dance is accoumpanied by Poetry in Gayo language which I don’t speak. In addition, this dance is usually displayed to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. In some literature mentions saman dance in Aceh was founded and developed by Sheikh Saman, a scholar from the Southeast Aceh, Gayo region. Indonesia consists of 1,340 of various ethnic groups, over 400 languages and dialect spoken. Gayo is located in Aceh region, the most western tip of Indonesia, 1,800 miles from my place.
I don’t dance Saman, it’s body movements are too complicated for me as I am getting old.
Saman dance has been designated as a UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Man in the 6th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of UNESCO World Heritage in November 24, 2011.
I have written about my country here: https://thegeographist.wordpress.com/indonesia/

I’m glad you like the haiku.
The dance is as much fun to watch as it must be to participate. I love the kalidescope effect thaty musliple dancers create. I found, via different videos, that different colors of clothing create different effects. I is a wonderful dance. I love it.
I could not find the lyrics to the song, but perhaps I just don’t know what to look for.

You will find the lyrics are varies in the Saman dance, one is written in Gayo language, others are in Bahasa Indonesia but originally is written in Arabic since it was created by a Muslim scholar hundred years ago. The poetry/ lyrics has different content one to another depending on the celebration.
Any way, you can search through Google with this ” lirik tari saman” your can choose bahasa indonesia or bahasa gayo , for instance ” lirik tari samana bahasa indonesia” …. 🙂
