Window In The Corner Room

.
.
Sequestered
With words
Shielding
Language
Removed
And alone
Hidden in
The small
Corner room
Insulated by
Walls of books
More books
Than air
Doorless
Airless
Hollow rooms
Line corridors
Hallways
Deadened
Of sound
Yet something
Words
Poetry
Mist
Love
Has slipped
Beneath
The one door
My tears
Have dripped
From
Duct work
Condensation
Evidence
I have
Watched
Through the
One drafty
Window
And been
Identified
Running
Across
The sky
Holding
Hands with
Winter clouds
Moonlight
Rainbows
Of silver
Shimmering
Plucked by
Angels
Pizzicato
Star notes
My voice
Ululating the
Swamp cougar’s
Night scream
As of a
Woman in pain
It is I
Am only
A woman
In pain
Or maybe
A ghost
No danger
Save memory
Of guilt
Responsibility
Attention
Elsewhere
Neglect while
Hope was
Possible
I am
Calling to
No one
While
Owls
Answer back
Echoes lost
In dark night
Cold shadows
I have
Become
Free empty
Of your
Concern save
Your fear
That my
Expression
Unguarded
May reveal
My own
Distress
More than
Your own
Fear of
Recognition
I am
The abyss
Looking back
Dancing
Compassion
For your
Self pity
Is not
Your fault
Your anxiety
Fearing
Unknown
Entrapping
Sticky
As the
Impermanence
Of romance
Your love
Ephemeral
Unreal
As wishes

Wow, this is a deep one, Bear.
Addresses so many issues and the poetry is filled with pictures and metaphors that stir the mind and engage the emotions.

I envy a room filled with books… I had to sell all of mine years ago (for pennies), and I really miss them. I need to find the energy to go to the library…

    Enjoyed your post 🙂

    • I’m glad you enjoyed 🙂 What sorts of books do you like to read?

I am finding myself behind the times. Some newer books are only available in e-form (Kindle) While some people really enjoy the freedom of carrying around an entire library, And the light weight, etc.I still prefer black print on paper.

Do you have a good library near you? My little sister got her Masters in Library Science 😀

I find myself behind the time in that I still prefer black print on paper. Many people like the freedom of carrying a library of e-books around with a reader such a Kindle. The also like the light weight and non-reflective surface.

BTW. my little sister got her Master’s in Library

I have found some free books online (still with the cost to download, though), but it’s not the same as curling up on the couch with a good book. Your little sister is obviously very smart. 🙂

        • The VA hospitals in Lake City and Gainsville each have surprisingly good libraries. They each have a give-away shelf or cart also a $1 table. Dunno about other VA hospitals. The clinic in Jacksonville does not have a library, but there are public libraries all around in Jacksonville. I am in Nassau County and it is a long way to any of the four libraries…. or anything else for that matter 🙂

Some libraries have a free mail-in service for handicapped. You might find out more with a Google search or a telephone call. Also second-hand stores and flea-market and Salvation Army and Goodwill and yard sales (in college towns) are sources that I have used. I am especially pleased to occasionally find a copy of an out of print book, once in a while, that I foolishly loaned away or lost track of.

Yes, my Little Sister is bright.

Not so much of “just being a woman”, but rather of “because of being a woman” … 🙂

I am not actually the cougar, though the big cat’s scream does indeed sound like a woman in extremity. It is a blood curdling, terrifying sound, meant to frighten prey into breaking cover. You might imagine a Banshee to sound like this. It is not, at all, like the roar of an African lion.

However, if you happen to have heard that scream last night, near here, it was not a cougar or a ghost. ‘Twas only a living person — or perhaps someone’s imagination.

Most of the chronic acute pains, as well as the transient symptoms, and/or anguish, or WHATEVER, that I, and far to many others, experience are not “because of being a woman”.

Nope, either you, or the translation, is mistaken. Men are not immune. Especially as I did not say the raison d’être .

    • …er …. that is the small passage you were referring to? It is the only gender specific part —- in English.
