.
There has been
An unseen shield
Around my soul.
I am safe.
.
Marked, yes.
Damaged, yes.
But marked,
No longer with death.
.
This particular
Pain was a death
Eating, chewing
At my body.
.
And it was a death
Gnawing, tasting
Slowly, grinding
Terrible jaws.
.
But a Cajun
Angel Doctor
Told me, there
Is to be reprieve.
.
The Angel’s
Assistant Angel
Asked if there
Was any one to help.
.
No. I must reach
This wound myself,
Though it is not seen,
I dress the wound.
.
It did not kill me.
Some one else died,
After almost
One hundred years.
.
And left the waiting
To one I was blessed
To be able to care for
When she was a child.
.
And so the
Cycles swirl.
I am to be
Granted more life.
.
There will be
More terrible,
Monstrous,
Scars on my skin.
.
But I shall live.
And be free
Of this one
Chewing death.
.
Oh My Little Sister,
It is not over yet,
But I am grateful.
I am grateful.
.
There is more,
So much more.
But now there is help.
I fight not alone.
.
As sure as life,
I shall die.
But not this way.
I am grateful.
.
My Little Sister
I know you want
Me to be released
Of my hermit status.
.
And this is
The beginning.
This cancer has
Been eating me.
.
For years,
I have fought,
Knowing what I fought,
Secretly, alone.
.
Now you,
Unknowingly,
Have granted,
Reprieve with your care.
.
The seasons change.
The cycles turn.
We live.
We die.
.
I am grateful.
I am grateful.
I am grateful.
I am grateful.
