Corvus Corax – TOTENTANZ

Liszt Totentanz @Berlin Philharmonic

Danse Macabre

Dance of Death (ancient Greek. Χορός του Θανάτου; Lat. Mortis Saltatio; it. Totentanz, Eng. Dance of Death, fr. Danse macabre, Italian. Danza macabra, Spanish. Danza de la muerte) – an allegorical story of painting and literature Middle Ages, which is a variant of European iconography of death and impermanence of human existence: death is personified in the grave of a chain of shapes, including the king and the monk, boy, girl, and others.

  1. It doesn’t have to be Halloween for Totentanz. Thanx for sharing these videos with us.

  2. Good Morning Bear!
You’ve been saving up for this haven’t you? Hmm? I think soooooooo. If not, well, my deer, then you’ve had plenty at the tip of your fingers for posting. 🙂
I do so enjoy how ‘different’ we all are with our perspectives and takes on how to play with these themes. Our choices reveal so much about our mindworks.
I do think making seperate posts is a very good idea. Things are easier to load up when there are fewer servings instead of everything in one place.
Hope Son IV is keeping from any more falls to the floor.

    • ???? I posted at 4 AM, it is 2:30 PM now ??? I am having WP difficulties. Some things, stats, notifications are missing entirely, internal links don’t work. A mess. Real Gremlins now, or something. —- Dear Husband is playing chauffeur today, they are showing off how independent they are. They don’t need me. Yay??? I’m arguing with the computer. The computer is indifferent to my commands. 😦 My anti-virus service says it’s clean. I need some better mojo, or differently focused mojo. 🙂 ——- Naw, I didn’t “save up”. But it did take hours and hours to find most of what I was looking for. Some goodies I just gave up on. I know they are there, just hiding in the googly layers. Oops. I lied. I had been saving Zombie Jamboree for an appropro moment. 🙂 So what does this all say about how our various minds work? Vampires and poetry, Ghost of Joad, other wordly horror flicks, ???? Aaawwrrrwwooooooooooooo XXOO Bear

      • Yes, you cited, 2:30 pm and at that time I’d been awake about an hour after feeling NO need for zzzzzs until after ceasing to write at nearly 6 am. Writing was offline on laptop so had no idea you’d posted at 4 am. Therefore, my delayed response isn’t an indication of a problem at your end. My problems with wp have quieted down. BUT my problems with yahoo have increased. Go figure. I can’t get to much mail for the last week. Maybe they’ll work it out. Or it could be the pc. Hmm. So many problem options to pick from. POSITIVE MOJO would be wonderful.
I’m responding now because, well, I CAN now for several reasons.
I think it all says that our minds are working quite delightfully.
I really do like your picks with the death images very much. I think they’re motivating me….could be. 🙂
Independence, how very nice for husband and son. 🙂 Hope all is well by the time you catch this.
        Zombie Jamobree for me.

        • No ZZzzzzzzzzz ??? I still have an older version of Yahoo. Dunno how I lucked out with keeping it, except I was asked, by Yahoo, sometime or the other. However, WP is still all goofy. I can’t access administration stuff. I can’t create new posts or edit old ones, including this one and I want do want so. Internal WP links are degraded or missing altogether. I can only log in sideways, not the usual route. I can only access some comments through external links NOT through WP internal links. 😦 Need MORE positive Mojo. I am grateful to be receiving some good Mojo. Thank you Powers That Be. :-)————–

Delightfully working minds.??? Yay!! I like that analysis. You should hang out a shingle. 🙂 All of the Dance of Death titles mean the same thing, different languages, different centuries. I wanted to do a supplemental post, but am restricted by — whatever.

I wish you more good progress with you other writings, and well deserved rest, also. Thank you for all you have done. Awrrrwwooooooooooooooooooooooo Bear

          • Hello again. Older versions of Yahoo have much to be said for them. Also, the simpler home pages didn’t drive one mad with ads. Perhaps wp has made some theme upgrades that are affecting yours. I’ve had that problem in the past. Then I go and find out that the widgets are not as they were. could be. Or could be not.

Shingles, hmm, do they pay well? Could be an option.

Writing is coming along just fine. All sorts of fun developments–well, I certainly am amused.

Rest? Yes, am getting that. It seems my ‘self’ insists on keeping vampire hours now. Fighting it gets me nowhere so I’m must going with the flow.
Which is good. Because it’s now raining. Raft time…surf’s up …tide is on the move…

          • There are ads in Yahoo with slow loading script and irritating video. At least it is not an potus election year. On the home page
I have several RSS feed which give me no trouble. Yes, the WP widget page is newly configured and unusable. I cannot delete, add, rearrange
anything. I accessed this comment via email notice. The notifications page is gone entirely, not even a link . The WP logo drop down menu
is missing. The stats page is blank, but I can still go there. I cannot edit blog posts or publish new ones nor even create a draft.
I can delete blog posts, entirely. That is good sometimes. 🙂 I can read the reader and though the “like” will not load on people’s blogs it is
available on the reader …. but I can only see a bit of the post and don’t know if I want to commit to “liking” when
I can’t see all of it ….. And more little bothersome bits. Maybe it will resolve? I’m begining to fee redundant now. Sigh. Wish I could read replies to comments on other people’s blogs. 😦 I don’t have links unless I happen to see something in the hit or miss reader or there is a comment on my own blog that shows up in the email. Aarrgh. I was just getting used to and adapting to this blogging medium. Guess I will have to return to being a Crazy Swamp Hermit. 😦

On a Happier Note: Good for you with writing!! Yes!! I’m glad the words are flowing. Yes and double Yes!!

Cold rain. Brrr. Intermitant clouds today … rain anticipated tomorrow. All but two of Dear Son IV’s stitches came out today. 🙂

          • Have you been able to contact wp support to ask if they have any ideas? there used to be a trouble shooting page–I haven’t been there in a long time though. Can you get to the ‘support’ pages or not?
Don’t return to hermitville just yet, bear. Please!

          • I’m skulking about the edges. Yes, I did post to the “Help and Support”. No response that I can access, yet. I thought some things were cleared up, but it was only a teaser and lasted only a few seconds. 😦 Glad I’m not a spy or a ghost. Lurking without doing anything is not fun. 😦 Inspiring but frustrating in equal measure. Awwwrrrrwwwooooooooooooooooooooo

You have excelled yourself again Bear !! wonderful, I loved it all again , the Danse Macabre is very familiar as it was used in an off beat private detective series, Jonathan Creek,http://www.jonathancreek.net/default.asp. But my top favourite was Corvus Corax – TOTENTANZ I see a pattern emerging here! 😉 xx

        • Mostly it is just for fun. Several Christian and European Pagan holidays and festivals have been turned into one Halloween.
Some folk do still follow older ways, but the Halloween we have now with Trick or Treating and candy and fun costumes is just
that … fun. Within the Christian and Pagan traditions there are hundred and hundred of sub-cultures. Whenever someone says
that something is traditional it may be that it is traditional only for them personally or it actually be an intact preserved
tradition. It is sometimes difficult to tell. Mostly nowadays Halloween is for Children who go door to door collecting treats
mostly from strangers, and showing off their costumes. Some groups indulge in hay-rides, games, parties, area Fall Fairs are
usually at this time of year, the weather is changing…. crops are either harvested or being harvested There is lots to have
fun with. As you can tell it can also be a magical mysterious time. Except in rare cases children are always chaperoned. 🙂
Even during Tick or Treats kids have to be pretty big before parents let them go in groups and then the adults are usually just
out of sight of the kids, with the kids in sight of the adults. There are some fun social lessons for children to learn by
knocking on a stranger’s door an receiving a big smile and a treat. 🙂 🙂 One lesson that is not generally acknowledged is
reading the property and learning to judge by such cues as housekeeping, maintenance, décor, colors, condition of pets, lighting,
and such which doors are safe to knock on. Well, I used that opportunity that way, even if other’s don’t. I and my boys always
enjoyed Halloween, and had copious amounts of candy and treats … enough to last until Thanksgiving, usually. 🙂 🙂

          • What a wonderful event. Indeed it is very important to preserve tradition in which we and our next generation can learn a lots of things and enjoy the close encounter with each other in person. I think it’s time for our lips, faces, hands, feet and the whole body extend its function greater than usual 😀 …. fun. Happy Halloween 🙂 to all of you.
